“MY SON AND I WOULD NOT BE WHERE WE ARE TODAY”

My son was seven or eight years of age when I attended the three-day Wraparound training. I knew after attending that this was what I needed to keep my sanity and lessen the number of meetings, phone calls and missing conversations due to memory loss.
I talked to all of the people who needed to be there: two social workers, three therapists, a psychiatrist, our doctor, CSP worker, PCA providers, friends who supported our family, and school personnel. Not everyone could attend, but notes were sent to each person who could not attend, as I wanted to keep everyone on the same page as to what was going on in my son’s life.
As time went on I became the facilitator/parent/coordinator for my Wraparound team. I was very busy, but also I feel that my son and I would not be where we are today if it were not for my Wraparound team’s supports and the assistance I received from them.
Wraparound teams are so very important to a family with a child with mental health issues. I hope we can get more neutral facilitators and continue having more trainings.
“Thanks, Wraparound!”
