Chemical Health Coalitions

In August 2006 PACT for Families Collaborative was awarded two grants from the Chemical Health division of the Minnesota Department of Human Services to establish Chemical Health Coalitions in Renville and Yellow Medicine Counties.  Their mission was to assist Renville and Yellow Medicine Counties in creating responsible communities concerning alcohol, tobacco, and other drug prevention.  Activities of the Coalitions included public awareness campaigns, training for beverage retailers, drug prevention curriculum in the schools, and more.

The Chemical Health Coalition grants ended in 2011 but both counties were fortunate to be awarded Drug Free Community (DFC) grants from the federal government. The DFC grants will allow the Renville and Yellow Medicine Counties to continue their drug prevention efforts for several more years.
